Teachers

Interested teachers submit applications detailing their skills and education, along with what they hope to learn and how their students will benefit. Industry hosts access applications online to identify the best prospects for their summer work projects.

All certified K-12 teachers are eligible to apply, but SIFT opportunities often relate to science, technology, engineering or math.

Teachers will be expected to use their own unique talents to assist the business. For example, an English teacher might complete a writing project, while a chemistry teacher may do hands-on lab research. A business teacher might develop a marketing plan while a third grade teacher does database work.

Teachers consistently rate SIFT in the top 10% of their professional development experiences. Brevard County staff development personnel rate SIFT so highly that they allow teachers in-service credits for participating in the seven week program.  Teachers report being invigorated, motivated, and eager to apply their experience in the classroom; they definitely finish the summer knowing that SIFT is “More Than Just a Summer Job” and note that the summer paycheck isn’t bad either!
